Director and 4 Year Old Program Teacher - Sonia Tebb Dip.Teach; B.Ed
Hello! I'm Sonia. I have been teaching the 4 year old groups at Diamond Creek East Preschool since 2005.
I have been privileged to have worked with a large number of children and families in the Diamond Creek community over these past years. The one constant feature that I enjoy most about teaching preschool children is their enthusiasm and eagerness towards Preschool and their ability to use their imaginations in such creative ways as they play. It really is the best year of their lives!
In my spare time I love reading- the weekend papers as well as my current book. My favourite local haunts are the Library bus, where I usually end up looking for books for the preschool, and our local op-shops where I find some amazing stuff for the children to use in our sessions!
3 Year Old Program Teacher - Melissa McGrath
Hello my name is Melissa! I had the pleasure of joining this wonderful preschool in 2015 and teaching the 3 year old group children.
I have had the joy of teaching children in many different settings all the way from Groote Eylandt in the Northern Territory to right here in Nillumbik. My passion remains with teaching the 3 year old group, nurturing their enthusiasm for learning through play in what is for many their first educational experience away from home. In my spare time my favourite place to spend some time relaxing is at the beach watching my two primary age children surf, walking our very energetic Jack Russell, fishing and enjoying the company of family and friends.
3 & 4 Year Old Part-time Assistant: Andrea Tyler
Hi my name is Andrea. My time at Diamond Creek East Preschool has gone the full circle. I attended the Preschool myself as a 4 year old in the 70's, then my three boys attended both the 3 & 4 year old preschool programs and once my boys all went to school I then returned again as an assistant and work with both the 3 & 4 year old groups. Previously I had worked in long day care and gained a diploma in Children's Services. I love coming to our Preschool and spending time with all the children and watching their development. I spend most weekends, watching my three boys develop their skills in their respective sports which include footy, cricket and basketball. In my spare time I like to scrapbook and read.
